"Texas is a state of mind.  Texas is an obsession.  Above all, Texas is a nation in every sense of the word."

                                                                                      -John Steinbeck

What Steinbeck put into words years ago about the great state of Texas, contemporary artist Larry G. Lemons has put into his Texas inspired art.  It's bold, colorful, often whimsical, and unapologetically bursting with Texas pride to the point of obsession.  The often present red, white, and lone star on a field of blue, along with such familiar icons as longhorn and buffalo skulls, armadillos, and pick-up trucks remind us that just about wherever a Texan finds himself, his heart still remains in Texas.

Once described by a gentleman in Stephenville as "Texas Pop", Lemons' style of bold colors and often used symmetric design elements capture Texas in a most unusual manner.  His artistic influences are evident in a number of works as he pays tribute to some of the great and innovative artists of the past such as O'Keeffe, VanGogh, Johns, and Warhol, while other images are clearly right out of his own personal "growing up in Texas" experiences.

His art has been part of the prestigious "Trail of Painted Ponies" originally based in Santa Fe, licensed by Texas Highways, licensed to the City of North Richland Hills, and has been selected as the official poster image for a number of regional art shows.  Google even has an L G Lemons armadillo print hanging in their new offices in Dallas!  In 2007, Lemons had a solo exhibition at the Booth Western Art Museum Borderlands Gallery in Cartersville, Georgia, and was part of a three artist exhibit at Breckenridge Fine Art Center in Breckenridge, Texas.  In 2008, Larry's art was selected for inclusion on TWO life-size fiberglass horses through the Mane Event Art Charity project in Wichita Falls.  If you love art and you love Texas, you'll want to own the art of L G Lemons.

          A WORD ABOUT FUNDRAISERS . . .

Due to our internet presence, we are bombarded with requests for donations of our Texas art to fundraisers on an almost weekly basis.  Though you may be representing a very worthy cause, if you or some of your membership have never purchased any of our art, please don't ask us for a donation.  If you really like our art, you should own some of it, and then we will seriously consider donating to your worthwhile cause.  Thanks.  LGL
